Yoga Nidra means ‘Yogic Sleep’ and is a deep state of relaxation, when you are totally relaxed, but not asleep. You experience falling into a state between wakefulness and sleep, similar to when you are just about to fall asleep, so you are conscious and aware throughout the whole practice.
It is similar to a guided meditation, and is a simple technique to calm the nervous system, slow down brain waves and induce complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation to one’s being.
Yoga Nidra has been shown to:
- Release tension, anxiety and stress
- Help with insomnia
- 1 hour of Yoga Nidra is as restful as 4 hours sleep
During Yoga Nidra you will be lying down, so please wear warm, loose, comfortable clothing and bring a blanket, to keep you warm.
Open to all levels. No experience of Yoga or Yoga Nidra is required.
